My great great grandfather. Poor little CLORA ANN (King) had about 10 kids in as many years and died. Milton was killed in an argument over a guys horses in his apple orchard. The man, (Adams) was sharpening a pocket knife when the fight started and Milton had his jugular vein slashed. (It was an accident) He then beat up Adams, sat down under an apple tree , pulled off his boots, poured out the blood and died. Adams got 4th degree murder sentence in State Pen. Lost his wife and son whle incarcerated. When Miltons bro. Job heard his brother was dead, he grabbed his gun, jumped on his horse and headed for his farm to kill Adams. The sheriff met him along the way and told him to go home. If he killed Adams, he would arrest him for murder. Job was not to be swayed so the sheriff tied him up and left him in a ditch until he had Adams in custody. Job had lost an eye at the battle of Shiloh, Co., C, 23rd MO. One of his sons was killed in the Phillipines by an enemy soldier in Spanish American war.
